I was so blessed to get to spend the summer traveling, and spend part of that time at Pine Branch Camp with these amazing people. Andrew and Jenny, camp directors, are dear friends of mine that I met on the World Race, and I left with Ukraine with even more friends. We worked really hard, and had a lot of fun. I was the “craft queen” and spent many days tie-dying, and laminating. It was so great! Without fail, each week I learned valuable lessons from the kids at camp and the staff I worked with. I was even able to spend time with a World Race team while there!

I love Ukraine. It is the only place I go where I step off the plane and instantly feel like I’m home. Home that I miss when I’m away. And now I feel like I have family there too. Family I miss when I’m away.

(I will post a separate blog about one specific kid, and the impact he had on all of us.)

LOST

I have watched LOST since almost the beginning, and most people can tell you, I have a higher-than-average knowledge of all the nuances of the series… maybe I should be more embarrassed about this………..

But when we found out that the series was not going to end with just an episode, but rather an EVENT we knew we had to make the best of it, and have a party worthy of such and EPIC show. So we gathered for an evening of drama, excitement, fish biscuits, a roast pig, costumes of our favorite characters and a trivia game. It was everything LOST deserved.

How to spend a fun saturday? follow these guys around with a camera for a few hours, and watch the magic happen.

I have known Brady Davis from The Beautiful Fools for a few years, and was so thrilled when he called to ask me to do his band’s new photos. We traveled all over Austin, and had a blast. These are just a few of the gems from the day…

Jennifer Crane Photography will be taking a 2 month break this summer. I will be traveling in Europe for a little bit, and working at a kids camp in Ukraine. I am super excited. Well, unless my plane is grounded because of this:

But hopefully, two weeks from now, I’ll be speaking russian, hanging out with some ukranian kiddos and spending time with this beautiful family.

I will be updating from the road, hopefully with some photos of my travels.

In other news, I spent this week getting schooled by the EscalateLIVE conference. It was such an inspirational and educational experience. I so enjoyed being poured into by such great photographic minds.

In light of that experience, thus begins a new day in my photography career. I am purposefully seeking and documenting inspiration. I have felt like inspiration and individuality have been lacking from my photography. The business of things has taken away some of my drive. My creativity. But no longer. It is time to go back to my roots, back to my inspiration.

So, join me on this adventure. This reinvention. This ever changing journey…

Jessica and Chris::in love

I have worked with Jessica for almost a year, and have loved getting to know her. I was able to meet up with Jess and Chris on Easter weekend for some lovely photographing. They are such a fun, energetic pair, and they didn’t think it was ridiculous when I said things like, “ok, now go play in the water with your shoes off”. They were willing to do anything, and were super creative also. I loved it! Thanks guys, y’all are great!

amber and seth::just before “I Do…”

My lovely friends Amber and Seth got married a few weeks ago, and were so generous to let me take pictures at their rehersal dinner. I learned a lot about shooting at an event, and got some great photos at the same time. I was so amazed by their friend’s family’s support and encouragement during their wedding, and preparation. It was such a lovely evening celebrating a great couple and their new life together. I love y’all! Congrats!

I have known Marcus and Jocelin for years, and I am always amazed by their story. They are amazing people, and I am blessed to know them. I am so excited to meet little “MJ”. I know she will be amazing and very loved!! I met up with this great family in South Austin on a BEAUTIFUL sunny day a couple weeks ago. We had a great time hanging out, eating pizza and laughing. Well, I had a great time…. Marcus almost had fun…..
